Overview
The USGLSA monitors and reviews legislative and governmental policies which impact the ability to operate commercial vessels in the Great Lakes in a safe, reliable and efficient manner. We work closely with the Great Lakes Congressional delegation, government agencies and other associations to advise and educate on Great Lakes international maritime activities.
The USGLSA is active in the following initiatives:
- Maintenance dredging at all critical navigation areas as managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers
- Research and development for shipboard ballast treatment technology
- All issues which support the initiatives of the National Association of Maritime Organizations(see Positions/Releases tab)
